Logo Variations 1: UWF's cornecopia :)

10.29 Thoughts

Pick two logos that we want to redesign as quick thumbnail sketches. 10!!!!
That is crazy. I'm sitting here trying to devise up my own and getting around using Illustrator that I'm going crazy. I chose the Sparrow logo b/c of the contest, and I think I'll do a Pearson's one too (contest as well). Otherwise, I might play with UWF's cornucopia spiral.

Tutorial #5

Mosaic Tutorial- I love tutorials... they may seem like homework at first, but once you learn something new, it feels as though you can do almost anything...Both artworks below are collages that I created over half a year ago for fun.

Figure 1: My first attempt... I learned how to create a pattern and use it as a Pattern Overlay with transparencies. This was done using white around the edges and smaller (9) pixels.

Figure 2: I got so excited, I did a 2nd one!! This time, with larger pixels and black background.

Logo Design

Logo Design #1

I made this logo up for the corporate name GeneralsChicken.com which was supposed to be a take-out website phenomenon for Chinese restaurants. I incorporated the Chinese take-out box with the two letters "G" & "C" and added a handle. Pretty neat, except now we don't use GC.com anymore but its DBA OrderCounter.com. Different concept so I will have to consider rebranding the company for the 3rd time.

Logo Design #2
This will be good practice!! Kind of fugly for the moment... keep on practicing. Due 10.22.08 Logo Design- have class figure out what this brand is about!

Logo Design #3
I made this logo up for the Sparrow Logo Contest by Pearson's. I could have submitted up to three but I only turned in this one.... what a bummer because I did 11 variations of it for a latter project!! AND I don't think the .jpeg showed up.... all that work in my sketchbook. I hope it wasn't in vain.Logo Design #4 (12.3)
I made this logo up for my fake band. Why didn't I think of this before?! I freaking love it. The mermaid tail is a bit random but it has a nice flow to it.

Logo Design #5 (12.3)
I used one of the UWF logo variations to create this record company logo for Cornucopia Records. Ever since J. Herring mentioned that our UWF logo looked like a cornucopia, I have been giggling about it ever since, mainly because the word is so ridiculous and the reference is so obscure. HAHA!!!!!

Tutorial #2

I have been somewhat behind on my tutorials. However, I love this one- so easy, how come I didn't figure it out sooner?!
Love me some vintage.

Chad Eby Exhibition Poster

Series should have a cohesive element to them even if they are meant to be different. As much as I would have loved to just go with the bright blue colors (see it on my "Design History Blog" in my links section), the final result is as follows:

Tutorial Assignment Monday #1

Interestingly enough, I had already started working from a tutorial the week before J. Herring gave us the assignment of POSTING our tutorial results but I just didn't get the chance to. Anyway, this is the link (which I have saved in my Links section).

My results didn't fare too well and I spent an hour trying to rectify the problem but either I am dumb or the directions didn't work. LAME!! I was trying to go for this:

Instead, I didn't get anywhere. I mean, the stamp look looks pretty cool and all but I wanted the grainy effect. That's where the black and white industrial lines in the poster were for; it ended up looking pretty edgy even though I didn't get the results I wanted so I kept the Threshold effect.

Maybe have someone explain the directions better?
